An Energy User’s Scavenger Hunt

hands holding world

A scavenger hunt can be used by teachers to direct student learning at any grade level. In this case, a set of carefully worded questions will introduce students to a new topic, ‘Energy Users’. The scavenger hunt allows the student to become an active participant in his/her own learning. Scavenger hunts can be held in a classroom, on school grounds, on the Internet or in the home. Students can work alone or as part of a team. Care needs to be exercised when developing the questions for the scavenger hunt that all students will be able to find the answers to the questions. For instance, information about furnace filters may not be accessible to students who live in an apartment building, and students who live in a rural setting may not have access to public transportation.
